All Acoustical Excitation of Spin Waves in High Overtone Bulk Acoustic Resonator

The hybrid high overtone bulk acoustic wave resonators (HBARs) consisting of a piezoelectric film transducers and gallium gadolinium garnet substrates with yttrium iron films (YIG-GGG-YIG) are used for experimental excitation detection acoustically driven spin waves (ADSWs). Two types HBAR made Al-ZnO-Al (differed through the electrodes’ geometry) were deposited onto YIG-GGG-YIG trilayers different YIG thicknesses doping levels served multimode at gigahertz frequencies. ADSWs detected by measuring shifts resonant modes in tangential external magnetic field when conditions magnetoelastic resonance (MER) satisfied. It was shown that design transducer continuous bottom electrode provides all acoustical (pure ADSWs), suppressing additional inductive dynamics due to geometry. theoretical study spectrum showed harmonics MER region can either almost continuously transfer from one another, or decay form an evident gap. In this case, shift frequencies achieve several intermodal distances. results obtained important applications HBAR-based devices spintronics magnonics.
